Welcome back to Term 4!

Posted on Google Classroom-

Morning everyone!
Happy Tuesday!
Hope you are all doing Joe Wicks this morning.
Scavenger hunt up at 9:30 to find out a little about what we have been doing!

I am hoping across the week to have video calls with groups of children to do activities with them. These will all be posted on google classroom with times allocated etc. Please make sure you have access to your child’s account so you are in the loop.

I really don’t want any parents to feel stressed about this situation and to feel pressured into being a teacher as you are not. I will do my best to make sure the learning is in familiar formats to what we have done in class so that the children are at ease and know what they are doing.

This may not be relevant to you but please refrain from teaching children your methods for things/things we have not covered as it may become confusing and I would like them to stick with what we have been doing in class as there are reasons why we do these things. Encourage your child and support them, try and avoid getting stressed about things and make sure you have plenty time for fun and relaxation. I am not expecting children to work from 9-3.

I hope everyone is safe and well and I will speak to you all soon!

Welcome back - routine is here! - ABC Day Nursery

Wednesday Wisdom

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

I hope we are all safe and well!

Just a little reminder that children need to have registered by 11am every day as there are lots today who have not registered and it says Mrs Munro and Miss Wainright a phone call, so please make sure children do that should you all be well.

Also, children should register and come straight off, I have been writing a morning comment to each child and some have replied but they should not be spending lots of time on here as children have been deleting other children’s names etc which is not ideal so please register, reply to me and then come off the register.

I have popped a task on google classroom today that I would like children to complete. It’s called Wednesday Wisdom and I have also opened up a new library on Book Creator and I would like them to add a School at Home page to their profile and update what they have been doing at home so far.

It is a strange time for us all, but I hope you are having lots of family time and learning and playing together.

Stay home and stay safe,

Lots of Love

Miss Rae

A message from Ms MacDonald

This has gone onto Google Classroom

Dear 5s. Your parents will have seen a blog post to day this week is about registering and learning to use clasrooms appropriately plus getting back into using the previously provided games that you all have access to (Sumdog etc). Your only communication at this time is to register in the morning and reply to my private comment to you checking in that you are okay. Then come off google classroom and do something active- whether its in the house or in the garden. Your teacher will communicate with you when necessary. Do not send messages to your teacher as this is like interrupting in class. Learning tasks will commence on the 14th April. Thank you Ms MacDonald

Please make sure you have read the post on main school blog this morning from Ms MacDonald explaining things in detail, keep an eye on the blog where there will be lots of updates.

Thank you!

Miss Rae

See you soon!

Give them a sweetie and they are delighted. See you soon my wonderful 5s (missing 12 of you) stay safe, be kind, have fun and share love ❤️

Belongings

We have been tidying out trays etc this morning and have cleared those children who are absent and have gathered their things together. If at all possible before tomorrow if someone is able to come and collect the things that belong to them. They are ready to go 🙂

Green books are still here which have got passwords etc in them which will be needed over the next little while.

Registration

This morning, those children who are here have all had a practise of registering on google classroom today in preparation for next week and after the Easter holidays. I have created an assignment on the Primary 5 google classroom called Attendance- each morning, the children have to check in by 9:30am by simply putting a Y in the box and pressing enter next to their name for that day.  Those children who are at home just now if they can have a practise of this today too please so that I can see they know what they are doing.

I have also posted an assignment called practise- where the children are practising completing a task and then handing it in. To hand it in there is a button on the doc page called ‘turn it in’ they can press this and then click hand in. That allows me to know the children have completed the work and I can provide feedback for them individually if need be. If you are home just now could you please have a go at this as well so that I know you are understanding and can prepare. If you are unwell obviously that is not essential right now but when is best for you.

Thank you all for your support. We had a big chat this morning and we talked about the importance of having a timetable daily for what our day will look like as we usually have in the classroom. I shared with children that I will be doing one every night for the following day so that I myself am also still in routine as it is really important for our mental health. I will still be getting up, showering, getting dressed and putting make up on like I would be for work. We talked about when they are doing school work to wear their hoody or jumper if they choose so that they know this is learning time and then they can change when it is free time.

Lots of love to all those that are at home just now, we are thinking of you! We are all in this together and we need to stay positive. I am looking forward to a new challenge of learning/working from home.

Science KAT

As one of  our Key Assessment Tasks- children have been given the opportunity to plan, organise and demonstrate a simple science experiment with the focus being on water.

Children have had the opportunity to research different experiments that they want to carry out and have recorded their hypothesis (question), materials needed and how they will carry out their experiment on a google doc which they can access from home via their google drive.

Children have the opportunity to carry these out at home or in school. If they are choosing to do it at school, they will have detailed what materials they will need to bring in. We will record these and upload them to our profiles. If doing at home, they need to  be recorded and upload the experiment onto their profile. They can be recorded on a phone/chromebook/iPad and then saved to google drive. If you have the app (Google drive) they can log into that and save it automatically. Then they can go to their profile and upload it onto their profile.

These are to be done over the course of the next week- We will be looking to do the experiments again as a bit of fun next week after they have already been completed. I have said to children that they shouldn’t be going out to buying things and should be using things that are at home. I have also said it should be safe to do without adults but that adults will be around to supervise.

Any questions that you may have with it, the children can ask tomorrow. I have said that they should be talking over it with you tonight to see if there are any problems.
