Our day began with an inspirational talk from author Barbara Henderson. The children were truly captured and it was very interesting to hear about the effort it takes to become and author and all the hard work that goes into it. I certainly gained a lot of knowledge from what Barbara said and I am sure the children took a lot away from it too.
The biggest message that was shared with us all is even though you may come across things that bring you down or set you back, the only thing that will make it happen is if you don’t give up. 121 rejections it took before Barbara was published. She never gave up and neither will we!
In the afternoon, we got the chance to buddy up with P2/3 and we got to do an activity together. We chose a book that we had both heard/read and got to reminisce over some of the picture books we heard in P2 and P1. We then chose our favourite scene from this book and used playdough to create it so we can then create an animation at a later date. They have made a great start. I am looking forward to seeing the finishing piece. I was impressed with how well most of us worked and how we were being role models for the little ones.
