The Star Outside My Window

In our new class novel ‘The Star Outside My Window’ by Onjali Q. Rauf, the main character Aniyah is fascinated by stars and calls herself a ‘star hunter’. Share with someone at home why she loves them so much. There is lots of references made to stars so far and because of this we are going to be learning more knowledge about constellations and what they are to gain a deeper understanding for when we are listening to the story.

We began the afternoon in reading pairs reading a passage about Constellations. In the passage there were lots of sub-headings. This allows the passage to have structure and keep focus.

We then developed our summarising skills by highlighting the key points in each sub heading. These are words we feel that someone would need to know to understand what we or someone else is talking about based on a topic.

This is a four fold task that we have all about constellations but working on different skills for each task.

The final two tasks will be revealed tomorrow and Monday. After this we should be constellation experts!
